SECOND GENERATION

4. Andrew L. WHITE was born in 1783 in Granville County, NC. He died before 1864 in Forsyth Co., North Carolina. The only documented information on Andrew, other than North Carolina Census records, was a comment published in the Moravian Elders Conference minutes of January 9th, 1839 when William H. White applied for permission to seek employment at the community shoemaker facility. The record states that William's father is "presently employed at the community cotton factory". The record also indicates that the Salem cotton factory started operation in 1837.

Andrew appears in the 1850 North Carolina Census for Forsyth County. The family listing is Andrew age 63, Frances (Fanny) age 58, Margaret 18 and Rebecca 16. They are both listed as being born in North Carolina and his occupation is listed as "Farmer".

Andrew is not listed in the 1860 North Carolina Census records nor is he listed in the Indiana 1860 Census. This could mean that he died prior to the Census or relocated to some other state. If he had died Frances should be listed as head of household but she is also not listed in either census record.

The Death Notice for Andrew's son Tandy J. dated July 6, 1864 states that Tandy leaves behind his wife and his widowed mother. This would indicate that Andrew died sometime prior to 1864.
